Job Description
Four Paws Animal Clinic is a 1 doctor, 1 technician practice in Chapel Hill. We are seeking a full-time technician to join our small but established family! Our doctor and technician work closely on a day-to-day basis to provide the highest quality of medicine in an informative and caring environment. We institute the familiarity and comfort clients look for in a small practice and strive to maintain these relationships with many of our clients having been with us for 10+ years! We offer preventative care, general medicine, surgery, digital radiology, in-house blood work, therapeutic laser therapy and grooming. It is highly encouraged for applicants to have at least 1 year of previous veterinary experience but is not required. We are more than happy to train the right motivated individual to become a key player on our team. We ask that applicants not only be animal lovers but are motivated to speak with clients about their pets both in person and digitally. Hourly compensation is based upon experience, responsibility and skill competency. Responsibilities of the technician include but are not limited to the following:
- Continuous communication within our well-rounded team
- Always show respect for fellow coworkers and clients
- Complete management duties such as creating the monthly schedule for part-time employees, maintain communication between them and the doctor, and ordering and restocking supplies when needed
- Relay information from sales and drug reps to the doctor
- Utilize the administrative duties in the veterinary software Cornerstone
- Capable of lifting 40 lbs without assistance
- Assist with physical exams of patients while properly practicing restraint and safety measures
- Assist in blood draws and collect stool and urine samples to be sent to the reference lab
- Perform in-house laboratory blood work
- Maintain all clinic equipment including blood machines, radiology, fluid pump, etc.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, surgical equipment and exam rooms
- Prepare animals and the surgery suite for procedures and assist in procedures
- Fill prescriptions, prepare and label medications and contact outside pharmacies
- Administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian supervision
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, and text
- Answer the phone, schedule appointments, and check-out clients
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress
- Appropriately handle euthanasias and the loss of a pet
