Join our veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant during the summer season! Queen City Animal Hospital is an AAHA Accredited, Gold Level Cat Friendly, Fear-Free Certified Practice looking for a pre-vet or veterinary student to join our team this summer as a Veterinary Assistant. New to AAHA, Cat Friendly, or Fear-Free? No problem - we're happy to fill you in. Already know and appreciate these things? We love to hear it!! If you are a team player who loves improving the lives of animals and wants real, hands-on clinical experience, this could be a great fit - and a meaningful addition to your vet school application. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal care, veterinary procedures, and clinic operations. You will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians by providing compassionate pet care, assisting with animal handling, and ensuring a clean, organized clinic environment. If you're passionate about animals and eager to develop your skills in a fast-paced setting, this role is perfect for you! Duties Gently restraining for blood draws, vaccines, etc using FearFree handling techniques on dogs, cats, and exotic pets (small mammals, reptiles, rodents, avian, amphibian) Pulling up vaccinations Filling prescriptions Obtaining vitals Assisting with xrays, ultrasounds, etc Communicating with clients regarding treatment plans, medications, etc Assisting the veterinarians, technicians, and assistants as needed Helping to keep working areas tidy, laundry, basic cleaning, etc Qualifications Currently enrolled in a pre-veterinary or veterinary program Someone who can commit to a full time position (Approx 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday) for the entire summer (May through August). •Have vacation plans?
