Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Franklinton Animal Hospital is growing and we are hiring experienced veterinary assistants and/or technicians! We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant with compassion, integrity and a strong ability to work in a team environment. This position requires working directly with our medical staff to help support the diagnosis and treatment of patients each day. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a wide variety of animals and have experience with surgical procedures. • Assist veterinarians and technicians with medical procedures, such as vaccinations, surgeries, and examinations
• Prepare animals for treatment, including weighing, measuring vital signs, and restraining as necessary
• Monitor and maintain animal care, including providing food, water, and cleaning enclosures
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
• Assist with laboratory tests, such as blood draws and urinalyses
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments and care
• Provide emotional support to clients and animals, while also communicating effectively with both
• Clean and maintain the veterinary facility, including the kennel, operating room, and laboratory
• Participate in animal grooming and handling, including pet grooming and dog training
• Assist with animal catheterization and other specialized procedures
• Maintain a thorough understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
• Support the team in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the veterinary clinic Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a veterinary assistant program or relevant experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist with animal handling
• Experience with pet care and animal husbandry
• Basic understanding of animal catheterization and other specialized procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
