This vital role supports the delivery of high-quality urgent care services by assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing prompt, compassionate, and efficient treatment to animals in critical and non-critical situations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care, veterinary procedures, and excellent communication skills, all within a fast-paced clinical environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop specialized skills in emergency veterinary medicine while contributing to the well-being of animals in urgent need. Duties Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint and handling during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and team members. Prepare examination rooms, surgical areas, and treatment stations by maintaining cleanliness and organization in accordance with aseptic techniques. Support medication administration, including oral, topical, and injectable therapies, following veterinary instructions precisely. Monitor animal vital signs and observe behavioral changes to assist in early detection of critical conditions. Maintain detailed records of patient care, treatments administered, and laboratory results to ensure accurate documentation. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Provide pet care support including feeding, grooming, and cleaning to promote comfort and recovery. Handle patients with patience and professionalism while applying animal husbandry best practices. Support front desk operations by managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and communicating effectively with pet owners. Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care. Skills Proven experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters with a focus on urgent or emergency care settings. Strong kennel experience combined with animal husbandry knowledge to manage diverse patient needs efficiently. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory techniques, and critical care procedures essential for emergency response. Skilled in animal restraint techniques for safe handling during examinations or treatments. Ability to administer medications accurately across various routes including oral, injectable, or topical applications. Experience with animal catheterization, venipuncture, and other invasive procedures is highly desirable. Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in diagnostics and treatment plans effectively. Competence in maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections or complications. Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with pet owners while providing clear instructions and reassurance. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
