Job Description

Job Overview As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our patients at Riverbend Veterinary Clinic. This position involves a variety of tasks that ensure the well-being of pets and the smooth operation of the veterinary clinic. You will work closely with animals, their owners, and the support staff to deliver compassionate care. Duties Checking in patients with accurate history, review of vaccines, medications and owner concerns. Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures. Provide animal restraint during examinations , diagnostics, and treatments. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with sample collection and radiographs. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and medication administration. Maintain accurate records of patient information and treatments. Discharging patients including review of medications, treatments, ensuring a smooth process. Skills Prior veterinary assistant or clinic experience (preferred) Animal care knowledge Proficiency in dog and cat restraint techniques Familiarity with aseptic techniques Laboratory experience Experience in medication administration Knowledge of veterinary terminology Understanding of animal physiology and anatomy Ability to work in a fast paced environment This position is ideal for experienced individuals passionate about animal care who are eager to work with a dedicated team to provide care to pets and their owners in a busy general practice.
