Job Description

Experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant Sagamore Animal Hospital - Rye, NH Are you ready to find your groove in a place where great medicine and genuinely good people go hand-in-hand? At Sagamore Animal Hospital in coastal Rye, NH, we're looking for an Experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant who loves being at the heart of patient care and thrives on teamwork, trust, and a little everyday humor. If you're the kind of tech who can place a catheter with confidence, keep calm during a busy surgery day, and still pause to give a nervous patient a reassuring scratch — you'll fit right in here. Why you'll love it here We're a well-established, community-focused hospital that takes pride in practicing thoughtful, high-quality medicine without losing the personal touch. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and big on helping each other grow — professionally and personally. The culture here is the sweet spot: experienced, down-to-earth, and genuinely kind. We work hard, communicate openly, and celebrate the small wins (like a smooth dental or a tail wag from a once-spicy patient). Our clients trust us because they know we treat their pets with the same care and respect we'd want for our own. What your role will look like Be the backbone of patient care: collect diagnostic samples, place catheters, perform venipuncture, support dentistry and imaging — your skills will be put to great use. Assist veterinarians during exams, procedures, and surgery to keep care seamless and patient-focused. Advocate for your patients and help clients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their pet's care plan. Share your knowledge with teammates, helping build a strong, capable, supportive tech team. Keep learning and growing — we're big believers that great medicine means never standing still. What you bring to the table Strong hands-on experience, ideally with ~2+ years in small animal practice. Solid technical skills — anesthesia monitoring, radiography, lab work, and the day-to-day multitasking that keeps a hospital humming. Clear, compassionate communication with clients and coworkers alike. Strong organization and time-management skills (you can juggle, pivot, and still keep the details tight). A positive, steady presence — because veterinary medicine has its busy moments, and attitude matters. Ability to lift/restrain pets up to ~40 lbs and stay on your feet for much of the day. Perks & benefits Supportive, collaborative environment where your growth is encouraged 401(k) Company-sponsored EAP (Employee Assistance Program) Employee pet care discount Referral bonus If you're looking for a place where your skills are valued, your teammates have your back, and your work truly matters, Sagamore Animal Hospital might be exactly what you've been hoping to find.
