Job Description
Urgent Veterinary Care in Auburn, NY is a privately-owned practice. We opened our doors in January 2022, filling an unmet need in the Finger Lakes area. Our clients and community have been overwhelmingly appreciative and supportive. In the three years that we've been open, we have more than doubled the size of our team, and we're still growing! We're looking for team members to fill combination receptionist/assistant roles to help deliver the best care to our patients and clients. The ideal candidates will have animal handling experience as well as strong customer service skills. We have openings for both part-time and full-time positions during evenings and weekends. Check us out at urgentcare.vet. We look forward to meeting you! Responsibilities Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files, and document procedures using veterinary terminology. Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, processing payments, and maintaining client communication records. Provide compassionate pet care advice to clients regarding animal health, nutrition, and behavior. Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring safety and comfort for all animals involved. Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during exams, diagnostics, and treatments, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy. Support kennel operations by caring for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their condition. Handle pet care responsibilities including pet handling, dog handling, and basic laboratory work to support diagnostic processes. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing to support diagnostic testing. Requirements Strong communication skills for front desk interactions with clients; ability to explain pet care instructions clearly. Prior kennel experience is highly desirable. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or with veterinary technicians is preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely—including dogs—and perform medication administration accurately. Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A proactive attitude with a passion for animal welfare and client service excellence.
