Job Description

The Cortland Veterinary Hospital is a newly renovated, privately owned small animal hospital located near the Finger Lakes region. We're a well established hospital with dedicated clients who appreciate the care we provide them and their pets. Many of our clients are generations of families who have entrusted us with the care of their pets for the 79 years that we've been a part of this community. Cortland is a college town where outdoor sports, cultural activities, food venues and Destiny are readily accessible. We recognize the important contributions of each of our team members and we strive to provide a positive work environment that promotes support and growth for our staff, cooperation among the team, fist pumping job satisfaction, and plenty of laughs. We take pauses throughout the day for chocolate treats, calico goldfish gazing and play sessions with our engaging mascot, Johhnny, a tripod orange tiger. The hospital closes at 5 and we mean it. We are looking for a veterinary assistant who thoroughly enjoys engaging with pets and their human companions. Joining our team requires a positive attitude and an ability to work cooperatively with others. Responsibilities based on skill:
Assist the doctors and licensed technicians with: Compassionate patient handling and care Assessing patient health status Venipuncture and catheter placement Administering treatment Radiology/Ultrasonography-patient preparation and handling Lab-prepare specimens for in house blood tests, fecal test, urinalysis, cytology, maintain equipment Surgery-assist doctors, maintain surgical instruments and surgery room Dentistry-assist in patient preparation, maintain equipment Pharmacy-assist in dispensing medication maintain inventory Client communication and education- call clients for patient updates and to provide doctors instructions Office duties-utilize software system-AVIMARK Schedule Appointments Enter invoices and payments
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8-5
Some Saturdays Qualifications:
High School Diploma Experience:
1 year preferred not required on-site training provided
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
