About Us Green Forest Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, modern small-animal practice in Glen Cove, NY. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Kennel Associate to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment, and is eager to learn and grow with our practice. Position Overview The Kennel Associate plays an important role in the daily operation of our hospital. Responsibilities include animal care, cleaning and maintaining hospital areas, laundry, boarding duties, stocking supplies, and assisting with general hospital upkeep. Punctuality and time management are essential for this position. Morning shifts begin at 8:00 AM sharp, and employees are expected to be ready to work at their scheduled start time. We are looking for someone who is consistently punctual, organized, takes initiative, and can manage their time effectively without constant supervision.
Responsibilities Animal Care :
Feed, walk, bathe, and monitor hospitalized and boarding patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and cleanliness.
Hospital Cleaning :
Maintain clean and organized examination rooms, treatment areas, laboratory, pharmacy, surgery and dental rooms, and other hospital spaces.
Laundry & Boarding :
Manage laundry, maintain clean boarding areas, and ensure boarding patients have fresh water, clean accommodations, and appropriate care.
Surgical & Dental Cleanup :
Take responsibility for cleaning and resetting surgical and dental areas following procedures.
Inventory & Stocking :
Unpack deliveries, restock examination rooms and treatment areas, and help maintain organized supplies.
Daily Hospital Maintenance :
Sweep, clean, and maintain hospital areas throughout the day, ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Team Support :
Assist veterinary technicians and other staff with general hospital needs and additional duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Excellent punctuality and attendance. Strong time management skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, work efficiently, and complete assigned tasks within expected time frames. Initiative and independence. Someone who recognizes what needs to be done and takes responsibility without requiring constant reminders. A compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward animals and their owners. A strong work ethic and willingness to perform physical tasks, including cleaning and laundry. Ability to follow directions, accept feedback, and work cooperatively with a team. Basic computer skills; our practice uses a paperless medical record system. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Prior animal care or veterinary experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Schedule & Availability Full-time position requiring availability for both morning and afternoon/evening shifts. Morning shifts begin at 8:00 AM sharp. Consistent punctuality is mandatory. Availability for some evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Must be flexible to meet the needs of a busy veterinary hospital.
