$18.00•$20.00 / hour Description Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care•Huntington, NY Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing Internal Medicine Department . This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside board-certified specialists in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while expanding your skills in specialty veterinary medicine . As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant, you will play a key role in both patient care and client communication , supporting our team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Assisting Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) and veterinarians with patient care and procedures Preparing and positioning patients for anesthetic procedures Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats for exams and treatments Utilizing proper restraint techniques for physical exams and procedures Supporting diagnostic workflows, including radiographs (X-rays) (experience a plus) Obtaining and documenting medical histories from clients and referring veterinary clinics Calling in and managing prescriptions (Rx) with pharmacies Communicating with clients regarding appointments, medications, and follow-up care Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment Collaborating with a supportive, team-oriented hospital staff Skills Knowledge and Expertise Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant (specialty or GP) Comfortable in a client-facing role with strong communication skills Confidence in handling and restraining dogs and cats safely Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment Interest in internal medicine and specialty care Experience with radiology (X-rays) is a plus, but not required Benefits Competitive pay $18-20 / hour Paid Time Off (PTO) Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision insurance Employee discounts Flexible schedules 401K with company match Career development and training
