Veterinary Assistant Join a Long-Standing Community Practice Nassau, NY 12323 Full-Time Schedule | Alternating Saturdays RequiredAre you an experienced Veterinary Assistant looking for a collaborative hospital where your skills are appreciated and your team genuinely supports one another? Nassau Veterinary Clinic is seeking a compassionate and dependable Veterinary Assistant to become part of our well-established practice serving pets and families throughout the community for generations.
Our five-doctor, AAHA-accredited hospital combines progressive medicine with a welcoming, team-focused culture. Many of our staff members have built long-term careers here, creating an environment where mentorship, teamwork, and quality medicine are priorities every day.

Advanced digital radiology and diagnostic toolsDedicated surgical and dental suitesUltrasound capabilitiesSpacious treatment and hospitalization areasMultiple exam rooms for efficient workflowGrooming and training facilitiesOutdoor pet activity and enrichment spacesTypical Veterinary Assistant ResponsibilitiesSafely restraining patients for examinations and proceduresAssisting veterinarians and technicians during appointments and treatmentsPreparing exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areasCleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining medical equipmentCollecting patient histories and recording medical informationAssisting with laboratory sample collection and processingAdministering medications as permitted by state regulationsProviding compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patientsEducating clients on basic pet care, medications, and discharge instructionsMaintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environmentWhat We're Looking ForPrevious experience as a Veterinary Assistant requiredStrong animal handling and restraint skillsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and client service skillsPositive attitude and strong teamwork skillsPassion for providing outstanding patient care and continuing to learnShift & Schedule DetailsThis is a full-time position with a consistent weekly schedule and rotating Saturday coverage every other weekend. The hospital values work-life balance and works closely with team members to maintain dependable scheduling.
