Job Description

Pleasantville Animal Hospital has been serving Pleasantville, Westchester County and the surrounding area for over 40 years. We are a full service A.A.H.A certified hospital caring for all furred, feathered and scaly pets' needs. Our services include wellness and preventive medicine, exotic animal medicine and surgery, general and orthopedic surgery, laparoscopic procedures for domestic and exotic pets, bee and apiary medicine, in-house comprehensive laboratory diagnostics, dentistry, ultrasonography, and on-site board-certified cardiology, internal medicine and orthopedic consults and procedures. We are a growing practice looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Looking for availabilty 4 days per week ~10hr days. •Weekend availability a must•
Expectations:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality care and support to our furry friends. This position requires a love for animals and the ability to handle them with care. If you have experience in veterinary care, or animal handling, we encourage you to apply. Previous experience in animal care is required. Ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and effectively with both staff and clients Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team Ability to follow instructions and work independently Ability to multitask Physical stamina to handle animals of various sizes and lift up to 50 pounds Have a positive and friendly attitude Efficient Problem Solver Reliable Transportation Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures by preparing instruments and equipment. Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments administered. Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and conducting basic diagnostic tests. Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure cleanliness in the clinic environment. Handle animals safely and effectively, demonstrating proper dog handling techniques. Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-treatment care.
