You will assist with daily animal care, support medical procedures, and ensure the clinic runs smoothly while gaining valuable hands-on experience in veterinary medicine. Duties Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgeries by handling animals safely and effectively. Provide exceptional pet care including feeding, bathing, grooming, and administering medications under supervision. Handle animal restraint and behavior management to ensure safety during procedures and examinations. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by cleaning kennels, surgical areas, equipment, and treatment rooms following aseptic techniques. Support record keeping by documenting treatments, medication administration, and patient histories accurately in medical records. Help with sample collection, IV insertion, catheterization, and other technical procedures as directed by licensed veterinary staff. Communicate professionally with clients regarding pet care instructions, appointment scheduling, and general inquiries to foster trust and confidence. Skills Previous kennel experience or animal handling background that demonstrates comfort working with various animals including dogs, cats, and equines. Veterinary clinic experience or veterinary technician experience that provides familiarity with medical terminology and clinical procedures. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices, anatomy, physiology, and behavior to support comprehensive animal welfare. Proficiency in medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and aseptic techniques essential for safe medical care. Strong client communication skills to effectively relay pet health information and foster positive relationships with pet owners. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting animals, restraining pets safely, cleaning kennels or surgical areas diligently while using personal protective equipment (PPE). Experience with record keeping systems to ensure accurate documentation of treatments and procedures.
