Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Receptionist, where your energetic and positive attitude will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals. In this vital role, you will facilitate smooth clinic operations by managing appointments, handling client communications, and supporting veterinary staff with administrative and clinical tasks. Your enthusiasm for animal care combined with excellent organizational skills will help create a welcoming environment that promotes pet health and owner satisfaction. Duties Greet clients and their pets warmly, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere from the moment they arrive. Schedule appointments efficiently, managing the clinic calendar to optimize patient flow. Collect payments and process medical collections accurately while maintaining confidentiality. Assist veterinary staff with animal handling, restraint, and basic animal care procedures such as grooming or pet care instructions. Support laboratory work by preparing samples, recording data, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with veterinary protocols. Maintain detailed records of pet health histories, treatments, and laboratory results using veterinary terminology. Coordinate kennel activities including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals' well-being during their stay at the clinic. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care. Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal shelter is highly desirable, especially with kennel experience or animal husbandry skills. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures is essential. Familiarity with laboratory procedures and medical collection techniques will be advantageous. Experience handling dogs and other animals confidently using proper dog handling and animal restraint methods. Ability to perform pet grooming or basic pet care tasks as needed to support daily operations. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for record keeping and appointment management. Excellent communication skills to interact clearly with clients and team members. A passion for animal welfare combined with a proactive attitude towards learning new veterinary practices such as animal catheterization or critical care procedures.
