Job Description

Pampered Pets Veterinary Clinic and Spa is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and skilled Veterinary Assistant experienced in anesthesia monitoring to join our medical team. Our veterinary Assistants play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care with excellent customer service for our clients that strengthens the human-animal bond. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Technical Skills Safely and compassionately restrain dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments Assist veterinarians during examination of both in-room and hospitalized patients, for treatments, and advance procedures Accurately asses and record patient vitals, triaging as necessary. Administer injections (IV, IM, SQ) as directed under the direct supervision of a veterinarian. Perform venipuncture (jugular, cephalic and saphenous) to collect blood samples. Perform aseptic placement of IV catheters in both cephalic and saphenous veins. Collect laboratory samples and prepare specimens for in-house and outside labs. Perform radiography for both body and dental imaging following strict safety protocols. Monitor patients under anesthesia for various surgical procedures while maintaining a patient's proper anesthetic plane. Assist veterinarian's performing a variety of surgeries, both pre and post op. Accurately dispense and document prescription medications Follow all DEA guidelines when assisting veterinarians with controlled drugs Follow OSHA safety standards and hospital safety protocol Clerical & Documentation Review medical records prior to patient visits. Ensure all procedures, notes, and charges are accurately documented. Prepare exam rooms and patient records for smooth workflow. Monitor laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed. Client Service & Communication Greet clients warmly and escort them to exam rooms Obtain patient vitals (weight, temperature, etc.) Discuss chief complaints, symptoms, and preventive care needs Educate clients on medications, post-procedure care, vaccinations, and preventive medicine Provide clear information regarding hospital policies, procedures, and associated fee estimates. Hospital & Team Support Maintain a clean and organized work environment Promote the practice's products, programs, and services Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture Communicate effectively with team members and veterinarians Qualifications & Competencies Required Skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology Knowledge of animal restraint techniques Understanding of sterilization and instrument care Ability and knowledge to administer and monitor anesthesia Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and general computer use Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods Comfortable working in an environment with barking animals If you are passionate about patient care and committed to delivering exceptional client service while strengthening the human-animal bond, we encourage you to apply today!
