Job Description

Fulltime Veterinary Technician needed for local vet clinic. $17-$20/
HR DOE Responsibilities/Requirements:
Performing diagnostic tests and x-rays Preparing animals and instruments for surgery Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments Restraining animals for examination or treatment Collecting and recording animal case histories Educating animal owners on home care Providing nursing and comfort care Helping doctors with physical examinations Know the range of services the practice provides Follow OHSA standard Know and use standard medical and business abbreviations Use proper medical terminology Show respect for clients, team members, and animals at all times Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed Able to lift pets and objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Access client information within practice software Greet incoming clients and patients Perform job tasks efficiently without rushing Promote a positive attitude among staff Handle stress and pressure poise and tact Regularly check for outdated supplies Scan new patients and strays for microchips, tags, and tattoos Communicate with clients about various pet-identification systems available Coordinate patient discharge with front desk, kennel and veterinarian Accurately invoice clients from charges on estimates of doctor's notes Handle angry or grieving clients in a calm, reassuring manner Understand the medical-recording filing system Locate medical files for hospitalized, surgical, or incoming patients Check on the immunizations or reminder status of arriving pets Accurately file all paper medical records Clean and straighten exam rooms to prepare for incoming patients Administer vaccines subcutaneously Perform suture removals Assist with routine exam-room procedures Record doctors' findings during medical examination

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
