Job Description
Metropolitan Veterinary Associates seeks a Veterinary Technician Assistant to support our specialty and 24/7 emergency hospital in Norristown, PA. In this on-site role, you'll assist veterinarians and technicians with patient restraint, treatment preparation, diagnostics, and record-keeping while maintaining a clean, safe environment. You'll support client communication, triage, and critical care in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, restraint, and monitoring in a 24/7 specialty and emergency setting Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment for procedures and diagnostics Support collection, labeling, and handling of lab samples and basic diagnostic tasks as directed Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, and documentation in hospital systems Provide compassionate, informative communication and support to pet owners and referring veterinarians Ensure strict cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control in all clinical and kennel areas Assist with triage and stabilization of emergency and critical care patients under supervision Stock and organize medical supplies, medications, and materials in treatment areas Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, learning-focused environment Participate in ongoing training and skill development to support high-quality veterinary care Required Skills Animal handling and restraint Basic veterinary medical terminology Vital sign monitoring Sample collection and handling Sterilization and cleaning of equipment Patient record documentation Client communication Infection control and sanitation Radiology and lab assistance Emergency and critical care support
