Experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant Saturday Priority | Part-Time / Flexible Shifts | Dogs, Cats, Exotics & Wildlife PetSmart Veterinary Services Tallahassee is growing quickly, and we are looking for a competent, experienced veterinary technician or veterinary assistant to join our team. Our highest priority is Saturday coverage , but we are also open to experienced candidates who are interested in afternoons, 1-2 shifts per week, or supplemental shifts around another clinic schedule . This is not an entry-level training role at this time. We are specifically looking for someone who already has hands-on veterinary clinic experience and can step into a busy hospital environment with confidence, good judgment, and a strong team mindset. About Us Operating as PetSmart Veterinary Services Tallahassee , we are a privately owned veterinary hospital in North Tallahassee providing thoughtful, science-based medicine for dogs, cats, exotics, and wildlife cases . Led by owner Dr. Cesar Mena , our clinic combines the warmth of a family vet with advanced medicine, modern equipment, and a collaborative, Fear Free-aligned approach. What We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced vet tech / assistant who is comfortable with the real flow of a veterinary hospital and can support appointments, procedures, diagnostics, patient care, and client communication with competence and calm. This may be a great fit for someone who: Already works in veterinary medicine and wants Saturday-only or supplemental shifts Is looking for 1-3 shifts per week Wants a clinic that values learning, collaboration, and thoughtful medicine Enjoys working with dogs, cats, exotics, and the occasional wildlife case Wants to be part of a newer, growing hospital with real opportunity to help shape the future Schedule Need Priority need: Saturdays Additional possible shifts: afternoons, weekdays, or 1-2 shifts weekly depending on availability and fit. We are open to flexible arrangements for the right experienced person. Responsibilities Include Assisting the doctor in appointments and procedures Safe, thoughtful patient handling and restraint Supporting Fear Free-aligned patient flow Obtaining histories and communicating clearly with clients Running diagnostics including in-house labs, radiographs, and other testing Preparing and cleaning exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment Supporting anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, urgent care, and outpatient care (depending on experience level) Helping maintain accurate medical records Jumping in where needed as part of a collaborative team Experience with exotics, wildlife, ultrasound, endoscopy, dentistry, anesthesia, or advanced diagnostics is a plus, but not required if you are otherwise experienced and eager to learn. Must-Haves Previous hands-on experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital Confidence working in a busy clinical environment Strong patient handling skills and good safety awareness Good communication with both clients and team members Reliability, maturity, and professionalism Ability to take initiative without needing constant direction Comfort with Saturday shifts or partial Saturday availability At this time, we are not considering students, brand-new assistants, or applicants looking to enter veterinary medicine for the first time for this role. We truly love mentoring, but this specific need requires someone with existing clinic experience. Strong Preferences Experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant Comfort with blood draws, catheter placement, radiographs, labs, anesthesia monitoring, or surgical prep Experience with dogs, cats, exotics, or wildlife Calm, kind handling style Interest in high-quality medicine and continuous learning Someone who takes pride in being useful, capable, and part of a team Why Join Us?
