This is a hybrid position that includes scheduled shifts working as both a Veterinary Assistant and a Kennel Technician . Team members in this role will assist our medical staff with patient care and treatments while also providing exceptional care for our boarding and hospitalized pets and helping maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital, kennel, boarding facility, or animal care setting is required. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a genuine love for animals. Key Responsibilities Provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding patients, including feeding, walking, medicating (as directed), bathing, and monitoring comfort. Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, treatment areas, exam rooms, and hospital facilities to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats during examinations, treatments, nail trims, blood draws, and other procedures. Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, treatments, diagnostics, radiographs, surgeries, and dental procedures as needed. Prepare patients for surgery and procedures, including clipping, cleaning, and patient setup. Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly report any changes in behavior or condition to the medical team. Maintain accurate treatment sheets and patient care records. Wash, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment. Stock exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital supplies. Assist with laundry, dishes, and maintaining overall hospital cleanliness. Greet and assist clients during patient admissions and discharges while providing friendly, professional customer service. Safely lift, carry, and transport animals of various sizes when needed. Work closely with the veterinary team to ensure every patient receives compassionate, high-quality care. Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, boarding kennel, animal shelter, or similar animal care environment required. Veterinary Assistant experience required. Strong animal handling and restraint skills. Compassionate, dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team. Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking dogs of various sizes. Experience with veterinary software (eVet/Covetrus Plus) is a plus but not required.
