Job Description

Veterinary Technician/Assistant - Driftwood Animal Hospital At Driftwood Animal Hospital, we take pride in being a trusted part of our community, providing exceptional care to nurture the lifelong bond between people and their pets. About the Role As a veterinary technician, you will play a key role in ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care. You will handle pets with kindness and expertise, while also effectively communicating treatment plans to their owners. Your calm, reassuring presence will help put both pets and their families at ease during visits. While one year of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is preferred, we are looking for someone who is passionate about animal care and eager to contribute to our team. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate animal handling and care. Perform standard veterinary lab tests such as fecal flotations, heartworm tests, skin and ear cytology, etc. Venipuncture skills are a plus, but not required. Use microscopes and other diagnostic tools accurately. Maintain and organize detailed medical records; experience with Cornerstone Practice Management software is a plus. Deliver excellent customer service through clear and friendly communication in person and over the phone. Support clients by offering compassion and sensitivity, especially during challenging situations involving their pet's health. Multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure smooth clinic operations. Skills & Qualifications Strong animal handling skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform and set up lab tests. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Compassion, patience, and understanding in dealing with pets and their owners. Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team. Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Mental and physical stamina. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Compensation Pay will be competitive and based on experience. Work Environment This is an on-site position, and remote work is not available. We also have experience mentoring veterinary technician students during their distant learning curriculum.
