We offer wellness, surgical services, Digital X-rays, in house bloodwork, allergy testing, and preventative medicine, while maintaining a great schedule with no late nights or Sundays. Every day it is our team's responsibility to help make our clients' veterinary experience a friendly, positive one to ensure that both they and their pets are at ease. In addition to veterinary knowledge and training, our team is selected for kindness, positive attitude, desire to learn, advanced communication and writing skills, strong work ethic, professionalism, and reliability. The SparksVet team is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. If you have a passion for helping animals and their owners as well as a superb work ethic and a desire to learn, we'd love to talk with you! Minimum of two years prior experience working in a private practice setting, is required
Responsibilities:
  • This position requires a consistent positive, respectful attitude, professional demeanor and great work ethic.
  • Assist veterinarian with all tasks needed. This may vary on a day to day basis.
  • Handling and restraint of cats and dogs during examination and treatment.
  • Greeting families, answering phones, scheduling appointments, requesting previous medical records, uploading records to P's chart. Processing payments at check out, including care credit, and assisting clients throughout the day with various needs and requests. Also taking messages for the Dr. and putting tasks in the system.
  • Complete follow up calls, log communication with clients, and manage email account.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable lobby space. Clean exam rooms, other clinic areas/floors, and equipment throughout the day.
  • Assist with duties relating to surgical preparation, recovery, and cleaning of surgical instruments.
  • Kowledge and assistance with positioning pets for x-rays.
  • Assisting with completing daily, weekly, and monthly task lists.
Other duties as assigned by the Veterinarian/Supervisor.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant running rooms is required.
  • Knowledge of basic animal care, core vaccines, heartworm testing, prevention, and flea/tick preventions.
  • Ability to place IV catheters, perform blood draws, in house ear cytology's, and laboratory testing.
  • Ability to multitask, while completing tasks entirely and correctly and while working in a fast-paced environment at times.
  • Excellent communication skills with positive workplace attitude and a proactive mindset is a MUST.
  • This position can be highly physical so the ability to lift, stoop, bend and carry up to 50 pounds is a must.
Pay:
$16.00 - $21.00 per hour
