Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, compassionate environment, supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering top-quality medical care. You will be instrumental in providing exceptional pet care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for every animal that walks through our doors. Duties Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering treatments Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for examinations, X-rays, or laboratory testing Support diagnostic processes by collecting samples, preparing laboratory specimens, and operating equipment like X-ray machines Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and procedures following aseptic techniques and veterinary terminology standards Provide pet care services such as feeding, walking dogs, and ensuring animals are comfortable during their stay Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning or polishing efforts Skills Proven kennel experience with knowledge of animal husbandry practices Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory testing methods Strong understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology Experience handling dogs and other small animals with confidence in dog training and pet grooming techniques Ability to perform animal restraint effectively while ensuring safety for both animals and staff Knowledge of pet care essentials including pet grooming, feeding routines, and basic pet first aid Competence in performing X-ray imaging, aseptic techniques, and laboratory sample processing Excellent animal handling skills with a focus on compassionate care for diverse species including equine experience when applicable Join us to be part of a dedicated team that values energetic commitment to animal health!
