Job Description

Job Summary Fort Henry Animal Hospital is a busy, 2 doctor practice, seeking a compassionate and reliable veterinary technician/assistant, looking for an opportunity to learn and expand on their knowledge of veterinary medicine. Full Time and Part Time positions are available. Our hospital hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5:30pm and Saturday, 8am- Noon. Shifts are available on weekdays, with rotating weekends. Qualifications/Skills (What we are looking for)
  • At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting (veterinary or animal care experience is preferred).
  • Must have exceptional communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Pet care (feeding, bathing, administration of oral medications, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and common diseases.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must possess a positive and outgoing attitude who is a team player and jump in when needed.
  • Must have great time management skills; arrive on time for scheduled shifts and be able to prioritize tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Candidates must have the desire and ability to learn quickly as well as possess great attention to detail. Job Duties/Responsibilities As a veterinary assistant you are an essential part of our clinical team, supporting our doctors and technicians in delivering excellent patient care while ensuring that our hospital is clean and welcoming.
  • Follow safe handling techniques for restraining animals for exams, treatments and procedures.
  • Obtain complete patient history upon intake and effectively communicate with pet parents on prevention and treatment plans.
  • Collect, process and label samples for diagnostic testing.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms, treatment areas and kennels. Keep areas stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Caring for hospitalized and boarding pets. What we offer
