Job Description

Harpeth Hills Animal Hospital is growing and we are looking for an experienced full time veterinary assistant to join our team. Candidates Work Requirements, Experience & Expectations:
Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. Ability to maintain clear and accurate records and to charge clients for all products and services rendered. Ability to properly restrain patients. Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision. Ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. A commitment to outstanding client service. Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day. Willingness to be trained in any skills necessary to complete the job. At least two years of recent experience in veterinary practice or medical environment, with increasing responsibilities.
Required:
1 yr or more experience in performing routine veterinary medical procedures (e.g., collect samples, draw blood, administer vaccines, IV, xray). Position Compensation & Benefits Pay corresponding to experience and skill level of applicant

Non-family references may also be required. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Handle and restrain animals during treatments and examinations. Administer medications and assist with laboratory tests as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Provide excellent client service through effective communication and education regarding pet care. Utilize veterinary terminology to document patient information accurately.
