Job Description

Robertson County Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced, full-time veterinary assistant to join our team. One year experience in the veterinary field is preferred but not required. Candidates must have experience with basic animal handling and care. Students currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program or who are considering enrollment are encouraged to apply. We are a 6 doctor, privately owned and operated, small animal practice. Quality medicine with compassion for our clients and patients is the foundation of our practice. We have been serving our community since 1981. Our hospital offers preventative care, surgery, in-house and send-out laboratory services, cold laser therapy, dentistry, orthopedic and elective surgeries, digital x-ray, ultrasound, boarding, grooming, and many other services. Schedules are 4 days during the week from 7:30-5:30 with 1 hour lunch breaks, and every other Saturday from 7:30-1.
  • No emergency on-call or after hours required.
Responsibilities:
  • Walk, feed, and medicate animals
  • Clean cages and keep hospital area clean
  • Restrain animals with proper handling techniques
  • Educate clients on animal care
  • Assist in surgery
  • Answer phones
  • Assisting staff in kennel and reception areas
  • Schedule appointments
  • Assist doctors and other technicians/assistants with patient care
  • Blood Draws
  • Operating blood machines
  • Taking X-rays
  • Filling Prescriptions
  • Janitorial duties such as mopping, sweeping, taking out trash, etc.
Skills:
  • Experience as a veterinary assistant for a minimum of 1 year
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions properly
  • Dependable
  • Punctual
  • Experience in administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages.
  • Experience with computers
