Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated hybrid Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our clients and their furry companions, providing exceptional customer service and support in a evolving veterinary environment. In this role you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic by handling administrative tasks, scheduling appointments, and assisting with various veterinary procedures.
Duties:
  • Greet clients and their pets with a friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage the front desk efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information and medical histories
  • Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint, handling, and basic procedures
  • Process payments, invoices, and insurance claims
  • Educate clients on preventive care, medications, and post-treatment instructions
  • Keep reception area clean and organized
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide excellent patient care
Skills:
  • Proficient in aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness and preventing infections
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures for sample collection and processing
  • Experience in pet care or animal handling, including dog training or equine knowledge
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures
  • Ability to perform animal restraint when necessary
  • Understanding of animal anatomy for effective communication with veterinarians
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in veterinary assisting is a plus
  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal-related field required
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure
