Mountain West Veterinary Specialists - Layton is looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. We are a rapidly growing, independently and locally owned hospital offering specialty and emergency veterinary services. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our dynamic ICU and ER team. Our Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department provide advanced medical support for critically ill, injured, and recovering patients in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone dedicated to providing exceptional patient care while supporting our technicians and veterinarians across both departments. Job Summary As a Veterinary Technician Assistant in the ICU/ER, you will support veterinary technicians and veterinarians in providing critical and emergency care to hospitalized and incoming patients. Your role will be essential in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment while assisting with patient care, monitoring, and workflow throughout the hospital. Key Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians and doctors with patient care, including restraint, feeding, and basic treatments Support both ICU and ER teams with incoming emergency cases and hospitalized patient care Monitor ICU and ER patients and report any changes in condition to the veterinary team Maintain accurate medical records and documentation Ensure ICU and ER equipment and supplies are stocked, cleaned, and sanitized Assist with handling and cleaning medical instruments Provide comfort and support to patients during hospitalization and treatment Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with hospital protocols Communicate with pet owners and provide updates as needed under veterinary supervision Qualifications & Skills Prior experience in a veterinary hospital or animal care setting preferred Strong passion for animal health and well-being Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills Comfortable working with critically ill and injured animals Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed If you are passionate about animal care and thrive in an emergency and critical care setting, we invite you to apply and become a vital part of our team. Our Layton location is equipped with in-house CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, an in-house laboratory, and much more.
