Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Layton, Utah is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our Oncology Department. We are a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where emergency situations and compassionate care are at the forefront of everything we do. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including in-house CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and a full in-house laboratory. Duties Diagnostic Support:

Assist with cancer staging and diagnostics, including taking radiographs, running laboratory samples, and holding/prepping for ultrasounds or CT scans. Assist with the care and monitoring of patients under the direction of a veterinarian or credentialed veterinary technician. Support treatments and medical procedures in the treatment area as directed by a veterinarian or technician. Assist technicians with patient care, procedures, and treatments as needed. Provide husbandry care for patients, including walking, feeding, cleaning, and ensuring patient comfort. Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Run in-house laboratory diagnostics and prepare samples for microscopic evaluation. Assist Client Coordinators and Doctor's Assistants with phone calls, client communication, and other customer service-related tasks as needed. Actively support a culture of accountability, efficiency, and teamwork. Requirements Previous kennel experience or animal handling background is highly desirable. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or emergency hospital setting is preferred but not required. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and safety protocols. Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.

Work Environment:

Fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Available to work (4) 10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday. Sign up for a minimum of (2) two on call shifts per month to support the hospital.
