Mountain West Veterinary Specialists is hiring a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our Exotics Department ! This is a unique opportunity to support a team that provides expert care to reptiles, birds, small mammals, and more in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. As a locally owned 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital , we proudly serve Northern Utah and beyond—offering advanced diagnostics and exceptional care for a wide variety of species.

What You'll Do:

Support technicians and veterinarians during exams, procedures, and treatments Provide gentle, informed handling of exotic species Clean, prepare, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and patient housing Assist with sample collection, patient monitoring, and basic lab work Perform daily care duties such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and administering medications under supervision Maintain accurate patient records and help ensure smooth clinical operations

What We're Looking For:

6 months to 1 year of experience in a veterinary or animal care setting preferred Prior experience with exotic species is a plus, but not required—we'll train the right candidate! Strong attention to detail, initiative, and eagerness to learn Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays (rotating schedule) Excellent communication and a compassionate, can-do attitude Can work Sundays, Thursdays, and Fridays with flexibility based on hospital needs and holidays
