Experience is required, and includes the ability to proficiently perform the skills listed below. At Companion Animal Hospital, we strive to practice quality veterinary medicine with high standards of patient care, and are seeking an experienced, hardworking, compassionate, and dependable veterinary assistant to join us in this pursuit. The major goal of the veterinary assistant in our hospital is to provide quality medical care to our patients, by assisting veterinarians and technicians, and educating clients in a broad range of topics that will increase awareness and compliance for responsible pet care. Our ideal candidate will be proficient in the following skills: Excellent client service skills Excellent communication skills Administering medication Filling prescriptions (VMC• will be required within 120 days of hire) Basic and advanced restraint techniques Venipuncture Assisting with radiography Assisting with surgical prep Cleaning and sterilizing instruments Checking in patients for procedures Additional requirements include flexibility in scheduling, including weekend availability, and a willingness to learn and grow in the profession. A Veterinary Medication Clerk• (VMC) certification is required for this position. You will be required to complete it within 120 days of hire via our hospital. Training, exam prep, and licensing fees are provided. Starting minimum salary is $22.00/hour. Actual salary will be based on experience and skill level.
