Role Responsibilities:
Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients during outpatient appointments. With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow. Obtain pertinent health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts. Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems. Perform basic nursing skills such as taking vital signs, performing nail trims, anal gland expression, venipuncture and administering injections. Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. Prepare patients, medications and equipment for examination. Prepare patient lab samples for in-house and reference lab diagnostic screening. Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments. Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.Experience & Skills Requirements:
Currently possess, or able to obtain Washington State Veterinary Medication Clerk within 90 days of employment Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to enter medical notes and maintain medical records; can type 45 wpm minimally. Able to lift 40lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Strong desire to practice empathetic, gold standard medicine benefiting our patients through all life stages. Positive, kind and provide trustworthy communication to patients, team members and clients. Have the desire to constantly grow and advance as a valued team member! Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of two years' experience as a veterinary assistant in an animal care facility. We are open Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm, Sat 8-4. A typical work week consists of five, 8-hour shifts which include rotating Saturdays. Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate of $20- $23 / hour.
