A Veterinary Technician or Technologist assists veterinarians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions in animals. May perform diagnostic tests or administer medications. Works in private veterinary practices or animal hospitals.
This position will assist with all types of duties at the Animal Shelter and make a difference in our community and those that live in it! The employed will participate in the daily operations of the animal shelter including animal cage/kennel cleaning, maintenance, record keeping, licenses, disinfecting all animal areas/ items, feeding, dishes, animal handling, office support, laundry, adoptions on and off site, events and fundraisers, vaccinates of incoming animals, microchipping adopted animals, budget research, financial duties, educational classes, volunteer coordinator, and euthanasia.
Age requirement:
18 years of age or older .
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/LICENSING & TRAINING EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED, and any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position. Wear required uniform and be required to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
LICENSING & TRAINING
: Valid State Driver's License Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Monitors animals looking for sickness, infection and other problems; quarantines animals, when necessary. Enters information into computerized database such as owner's name and disposition of animals (adopted, redeemed). Maintains records of animal impounded, licenses issued, license fees collected, adoption, and redemption. Processes license applications, collecting fees and issuing licenses. Conducts periodic licensing and rabies clinics; completes rabies clinic certificates. Receives lost/found reports. Vaccinates and microchip incoming animals. Euthanize animals in the prescribed manner, according to appropriate laws. Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Performs related work as required.
