Job Description

Atascadero Pet Hospital & Emergency Center is a 24-hour veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional care to pets in their time of need. Our dedicated team of professionals works cohesively to ensure that pets receive the highest standard of medical care, compassion, and support. We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview:
As an RVT, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch veterinary care to animals both during routine care visits and those facing urgent medical situations. You will work in collaboration with our experienced veterinary team to assess, treat, and monitor patients, ensuring their well-being and recovery. Team members work 40 hours per week utilizing 10 hour shifts for 4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Patient Care:
Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill or injured animals, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with medical procedures.
Diagnostic Support:
Collaborate with veterinarians to perform diagnostic procedures, such as laboratory tests, imaging, and other advanced diagnostics.
Surgical Assistance:
Assist in surgical procedures by preparing surgical suites, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care.
Client Communication:
Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing updates on their pet's condition, explaining treatment plans, and offering support and education.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with veterinary assistants, front desk staff, and other team members to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
Qualifications:
RVT Certification:
Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician with a valid license in California. Previous experience in emergency veterinary medicine is preferred. Proficient in technical veterinary nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, and anesthesia monitoring. Demonstrate a strong passion for animal care and the ability to provide empathetic support to both patients and their owners. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Familiarity with Cornerstone software is a plus.
