Animal Health Technician 3 - Oncology (ANML HEALTH TCHN 3)

Independent of supervision, provide highly specialized oncology care to cancer patients and provide technical support to the Medical Oncology Service. Administer medications per clinicians' orders. Perform limited physical exams, monitor patient condition using established routine. Collect biological samples for diagnostic evaluation using standard protocols. Clean and stock assigned areas. No minimum education required. Experience communicating verbally and in writing with medical terminology with a wide variety of people, professionally and diplomatically. Experience performing standard CPR in emergency situations. Experience recognizing normal and abnormal parameters for patients and how to respond accordingly. Experience handling unpleasant or difficult situations or individuals. Skill to review and understand prescribed drugs and procedures. Knowledge of basic oncology diseases and Chemotherapeutic agents. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to engage effectively with diverse staff, clinicians, and clients and the skill to recognize and manage difficult situations Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of diagnostic procedures such as CT, MRI and digital radiography. The VMC-SC is a San Diego satellite specialty referral and 24-hour emergency hospital. This will expand the SVM's role in Southern California while providing clients and referring veterinarians with the highest level of customer care.
