Job Description

Overview We are a privately owned emergency veterinary clinic that sees small animals and exotics such as avians, reptiles, and small mammals. We are seeking an RVT or experienced veterinary assistant to work full-time. In this vital role, you will be the frontline supporter for animals in urgent situations, providing compassionate, expert care to stabilize and treat pets in distress. Duties Assist veterinarians during emergency procedures, including intubation, catheterization, and wound management Provide animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both pets and staff Monitor vital signs and perform basic life support techniques as needed during critical situations Prepare animals for diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging and laboratory tests Maintain aseptic technique during surgeries and invasive procedures to prevent infection Conduct animal husbandry tasks including feeding, grooming, and cleaning kennels to promote comfort and recovery Support pet owners by explaining procedures, post-care instructions, and answering questions with clarity and compassion Document all treatments, observations, and interventions accurately in medical records Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and analysis to aid diagnosis Qualifications Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques highly desirable Ability to perform animal catheterization, restraint, and other technical skills with precision Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary team members and pet owners Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail Current RVT license is preferred but minimum of 3 years experience as an assistant will be considered. $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
