Education/Experience Significant experience in a veterinary hospital (minimum 2+ years mandatory)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM and SQ injections Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environmentJob Specifications:
Ensure that the doctors are moving through appointments by assisting and routing clients and patients. Perform in-hospital laboratory tests, completion of requests for reference laboratory Ensure that clients are contacted and given test results in a timely manner. Make test results readily available to doctors. Restrain animals for procedures either for doctors or other staff. Assist in medical or surgical procedures. Performs medical procedures as directed by the doctor. Maintain hospitalization/ treatment records on each patient. Ensure that charges are entered and correct for medical/hospitalized and surgical cases. Admit and discharge patients per doctor's orders. Communicates status of pets while hospitalized. Prepare patients for surgery, monitor patients during surgery and recovery. Assist as needed during surgical procedures. Administer fluids and perform supportive therapy to patients during surgery and post-op. Properly clean, prepare and sterilize surgical areas and surgical instruments. Keep surgical areas stocked and prepared. Take and process all radiographs Assists doctors in ensuring clients have appropriate home care instructions.Performance Criteria:
Accurately interpret and apply policies and procedures using sound judgment Accurately convey knowledge of canine and feline preventative and therapeutic healthcare procedures Works as a team player as demonstrated by cheerfully contributing time and effort to less appealing tasks Clearly communicates professionally and courteously to all staff and clients Organizes and prioritizes workflow Shows high reliability in punctuality and attendance y.Pay:
