This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your veterinary skills in a fast-paced, supportive setting dedicated to animal health and happiness. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and compassionately, utilizing animal restraint and handling skills to ensure comfort and safety for both pets and staff. Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws, urinalysis, and sample processing to support accurate diagnoses. We use IDEXX machines Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, medical histories, and laboratory results with precision. Conduct pet dental cleanings using dental terminology knowledge, and pet care routines to enhance overall animal health. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in accurate diagnosis of injuries or illnesses. Support animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness. Assist with equine care when applicable, including handling horses and understanding equine anatomy and physiology. Perform animal catheterization and other veterinary technician procedures with skill and confidence. Contribute to a team environment by training dogs in basic commands or dog training techniques as needed. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling expertise across various species including dogs, cats, and horses. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Experience with laboratory testing procedures and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray technology. Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and pet care best practices to promote overall health. Ability to communicate effectively with pet owners about treatment plans using clear veterinary terminology. Skilled in animal restraint techniques for safe examinations or procedures while minimizing stress. Familiarity with aseptic techniques essential for surgeries or invasive procedures. Dog handling skills including training basics to assist in behavioral management or pet grooming routines.
