Our Community Cat Program focuses on Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNvR) to reduce overpopulation, prevent disease, and decrease shelter intake. Through our Community Cat Clinic, we perform more than 2,500 spay/neuter surgeries annually. We provide free spay/neuter services for community cats within our service areas and low-cost options for owned cats and kittens, making essential veterinary care accessible to all. Our team is experienced, collaborative, and passionate about helping cats. We provide a professional, mission-driven environment where safety, efficiency, and compassionate care guide everything we do. Position Overview The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) plays a critical leadership role in daily clinic operations, overseeing patient care, anesthesia, surgical support, and recovery for high-volume feline spay/neuter clinics. Working closely with the veterinarian and support staff, the RVT is responsible for ensuring safe anesthetic protocols, maintaining high medical standards, and promoting efficient patient flow throughout the clinic day. This position is ideal for an experienced technician with a strong interest in High-Volume, High-Quality Spay/Neuter (HVHQSN) medicine, shelter medicine, or community cat programs. Each clinic day typically includes 30-35 feline surgeries performed by a skilled, collaborative team. Key Responsibilities Lead daily medical setup and preparation of surgical, treatment, and recovery areas. Perform equipment checks, including anesthesia machines, oxygen concentrators, scavenging systems, monitoring equipment, and emergency supplies. Calculate, prepare, and administer medications, vaccines, anesthetic agents, and pain management protocols as directed by the veterinarian. Perform patient assessments, obtain accurate weights, review medical records, and assist with pre-surgical examinations. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia for feline surgical patients while maintaining accurate anesthetic records. Monitor patient vital signs and respond appropriately to anesthetic changes or emergencies. Place and maintain IV catheters when indicated. Assist the veterinarian during surgical procedures and ensure adherence to aseptic technique and HVHQSN best practices. Maintain inventory of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and controlled substances. Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, autoclaving, and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Maintain accurate medical records and controlled substance logs in compliance with applicable regulations. Adhere to and consistently follow all Little Lion Foundation SOPs, medical protocols, safety standards, and operational guidelines, while supporting a culture of accountability, efficiency, and excellence in patient care. Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on efficiency, safety, and compassionate care. Support the organization's mission through client education, community outreach, and advocacy for community cats. Preferred Experience in High-Volume, High-Quality Spay/Neuter (HVHQSN) programs. Shelter medicine or community cat program experience. Familiarity with TNvR practices and feline population management. Experience training or supervising veterinary assistants and volunteers. What We Offer Opportunity to directly impact cat welfare through lifesaving surgery and preventive care. Supportive and experienced HVHQSN team environment.
