In this energetic role, you'll assist veterinarians with medical procedures, provide compassionate animal handling, and ensure the highest standards of pet care. Your skills in animal husbandry, laboratory work, and veterinary terminology will be vital to delivering exceptional veterinary services. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals with care and confidence, utilizing proper restraint techniques for safe pet handling across various species including dogs, cats, and equines. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and laboratory results while ensuring compliance with veterinary terminology standards. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care including cleaning and oral examinations. Conduct animal catheterization, administer medications, and assist with pet grooming as needed to promote optimal pet health. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in accurate diagnosis of injuries or illnesses. Manage animal physiology assessments and contribute to critical care situations with veterinary experience in emergency settings. Ensure proper animal husbandry practices are followed for all pets in our care, including feeding, bathing, and habitat maintenance. Assist in dog training sessions or pet grooming activities that enhance overall pet well-being and owner satisfaction. Experience Previous veterinary technician experience or related animal care background is highly preferred. Kennel experience demonstrating proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques. Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory testing processes. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques is essential for success in this role. Experience working with diverse animals including dogs, cats, horses (equine experience), and other small animals is a plus. Strong skills in dog handling, pet grooming, and pet care practices are desirable to provide comprehensive support to our veterinary team.
