ABOUT US
Alder Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, independently owned, AAHA-accredited small animal practice with deep community roots in San Lorenzo, CA. We are moving into a brand-new, purpose-built 4,600 sqft facility equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical technology. We are not corporate-affiliated, and our clients and team come first.
POSITION DETAILS
Title:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Lead Technician (1 opening)
Type:
Hourly Schedule:
Weekday clinic hours plus rotating Saturday shifts
Experience:
RVT track requires a minimum of 2 years of experience as an RVT. Lead Technician track requires a minimum of 3 years of experience, and an RVT credential is preferred. We have one opening and will place the successful candidate at the RVT or Lead Technician level based on experience and credentials. Scheduling details, including any shift sharing between locations, will be discussed at the time of interview.
CORE TECHNICIAN DUTIES
(RVT)
  • Perform physical exams, collect samples, and run in-house diagnostics on our IDEXX Catalyst One, ProCyte One, and SediVue Dx equipment
  • Place IV catheters, monitor patients under anesthesia, and support recovery
  • Take and process digital radiographs and assist with ultrasound imaging
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by our doctors
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with dental radiographs
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate clearly with clients on home-care instructions
ADDITIONAL LEAD TECHNICIAN DUTIES
(management & supervisory)
  • Oversee daily scheduling and workflow for the technical team
  • Mentor, train, and onboard RVTs, veterinary assistants, and technician assistants
  • Develop and maintain technical protocols and standard operating procedures alongside our doctors
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the technical team and the doctors/practice management
  • Monitor and manage medical supply, pharmaceutical, and equipment inventory
  • Support performance feedback and help resolve day-to-day technical team concerns
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly Pay:
RVT $27
  • $32 per hour; Lead Technician $32
  • $35 per hour , commensurate with experience
