Responsibilities Prepare surgical suites, sterilize equipment, and ensure aseptic techniques are strictly followed to maintain a sterile environment. Assist veterinarians during surgeries by providing necessary instruments, monitoring anesthesia, and managing patient positioning. Administer medications, fluids, and anesthetics under veterinary supervision while monitoring vital signs using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment. Perform vascular access procedures such as IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication delivery and fluid therapy. Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during pre-operative assessments, procedures, and post-operative recovery. Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and other diagnostic procedures to support surgical cases. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software, documenting procedures, patient responses, and post-operative care instructions. Requirements Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in surgical assistance and critical care. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for surgical environments. Experience with anesthesiology, general anesthesia protocols, medication administration, and veterinary anesthesia monitoring. Familiarity with laboratory procedures such as pet care diagnostics, radiology diagnostics (X-ray), and laboratory work. Ability to handle dogs and other animals with confidence using animal handling skills; experience with equine or large animal handling is a plus. Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in a fast-paced setting. Competence in operating medical equipment including radiology machines, anesthesia machines, and laboratory instruments. Certification or training in emergency medicine practices for veterinary critical & intensive care situations is preferred.
