Oncology Technician Job Description We are seeking a registered veterinary technician with strong technical and communication skills to join our team. The ideal applicant takes pride in their work, is detailed, licensed and has chemotherapy experience. We understand that most applicants will not have oncology experience. Experienced unlicensed techs with a strong desire to learn are still encouraged to apply. What you'll do / skills you have Master or already possess the typical skills of a veterinary oncology technician Possess superior venipuncture skills Possess or acquire knowledge of chemotherapy medications and chemotherapy safe handling Admit oncology patients for treatment and obtain thorough history including current medications and dosages, any treatment-related side effects (onset, intensity, duration) Reconstitute, prepare, administer and dispose of chemotherapy agents in adherence with OSHA and hospital protocols Enter medical record notes and ensure that information is accurate and up to date Create estimates and review with clients Restrain animals safely using Fear free techniques Work collaboratively with all coworkers-Safely and effectively obtain digital radiographs Use Co-Vet to summarize and prepare records for new consultations Learn how to measure and aspirate lymph nodes Participate in monthly service meetings focused on learning objectives and proactive problem solving with the goal of continued growth for all team members Maintain professionalism and compassion in high pressure situations and around clients in varied emotional states-Other duties possible, as discussed with the owner Who you are Self-motivated and thinking 'how can this be done better?"
