Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and possess the necessary skills to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role requires a commitment to animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. We are a privately owned, AAHA Accredited, 4 doctor practice in Norwalk CT. Our doctors provide routine examinations, preventative care, a wide range of surgical procedures, and both routine and complicated dental care. We are also thrilled to have welcomed a part time board certified Internal Medicine Specialist in 2024. We boast a great daytime schedule that prioritizes work/life balance. Our technicians are encouraged to practice at the top of their abilities and skill set. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal patients during anesthesia and recovery. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Provide education to pet owners regarding proper pet care and health maintenance. Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their comfort during procedures. Perform dental imaging and cleanings and assist with dental procedures using appropriate terminology. Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection. Support the overall cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment. Qualifications Certification as a Veterinary Technician is required. Possess a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology. Experience in animal handling, including dog handling and restraint techniques. Knowledge of animal anatomy and husbandry practices is essential. Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment. Experience in veterinary critical care is a plus. Ability to perform tasks such as animal catheterization, X-ray imaging, and dental cleanings. Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and team members.
