Job Description
Big Paws Animal Hospital is a busy one doctor practice located in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. We are a full-service small animal hospital providing routine and emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced individual to join our family Our hospital is open 6 days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8am-6pm Wednesday 8-3 and Saturdays from 8am-12pm . Our Veterinary Technician's responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Triage patients, record vitals, and acquire patient history.
- Assist Veterinarian in all routine and emergency patient care.
- Treatment and management of hospitalized patients.
- Discuss treatment plans, estimates, and payment options with clients.
- Acquire blood samples and place IV catheters
- Surgical preparation, assistance and recovery, including anesthetic monitoring
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations.
- Perform digital radiographs.
- Operate autoclaves, centrifuge, and in-house lab machines.
- Process specimens in the in-house laboratory and submit to outside labs.
- Fill medications and provide dosing instructions to clients.
- Enter patient service charges into computer database, keep accurate records.
- Explain patient instructions to clients and provide educational material & resources.
