Job Description

Humberstone Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled and reliable Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced veterinary environment. This role requires both technical proficiency and excellent communication skills to support veterinarians and provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures Monitor anesthesia and maintain accurate surgical records Perform laboratory procedures, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytologies Obtain and process diagnostic imaging (radiographs) Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed Maintain accurate and detailed medical records Provide client education on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care Ensure proper handling and restraint of animals Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and surgical areas
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a veterinary setting Strong knowledge of animal health, anesthesia monitoring, and laboratory procedures Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations Excellent communication and organizational skills Experience with electronic medical records systems
Preferred Skills:
Surgical and dental experience Experience with multi-species (small animals and ferrets) Strong client communication and education skills
Work Environment:
Fast-paced clinical setting requiring multitasking and adaptability Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
