Job Summary We are a privately owned animal hospital under new ownership with a strong, cohesive, and laid-back team. We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join us. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting our veterinarians and ensuring pets receive high-quality, stress-free care. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal patients during anesthesia and recovery. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Provide proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both the staff and animals. Educate pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care. Handle dogs and cats with care and compassion. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with team members. Perform anesthetic dental procedures including dental scaling, polishing, and radiographs. Skills and Knowledge IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, intubation Knowledge of basic emergency procedures and ability to set up for incoming cases Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, via text and email Ability to work well in high pressure situations and adequately prioritize tasks Ability to work individually and in coordination with a team Self-motivated and eager-to-learn individual Computer proficient including use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Ability to lift 40lbs or more Experience Candidates should have a solid background in animal care, with a working knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy. Experience in anesthetic monitoring, client education, and technical skills is essential, while familiarity with digital dental x-rays is a strong plus.
