SARVEC is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dependable Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. Emergency medicine is challenging, rewarding, and never boring. We are looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and provide exceptional patient care while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team.
Schedule Requirements:
Weekend day shifts and/or overnight shifts Weekday overnight shifts available Holiday availability required
Part-Time Position What We're Looking For:
Veterinary technician experience preferred Emergency veterinary experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate Positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy emergency setting Excellent communication and customer service skills Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented Passion for patient care and client support Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Responsibilities Include:
Assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and emergency procedures Monitoring hospitalized, critical, and ICU patients Collecting laboratory samples and performing diagnostic testing Administering medications and treatments as directed Obtaining patient vital signs and maintaining accurate medical records Placing and maintaining intravenous catheters Performing diagnostic imaging and radiology positioning Assisting with anesthesia monitoring and recovery Maintaining accurate treatment sheets, patient records, and charges Providing clear client communication regarding patient care and discharge instructions Following isolation and biosecurity protocols Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment Supporting CPR and emergency response efforts
Skills & Experience We Value:
IV catheter placement (cephalic and saphenous) Venipuncture and laboratory sample collection Medication administration (IM, IV, SQ) Medical math and dosage calculations Blood pressure monitoring ECG monitoring and interpretation Critical patient nursing care Oxygen therapy management Blood transfusion monitoring Anesthesia and surgical support Proper patient restraint and Fear Free handling techniques Strong attention to detail and medical accuracy
Qualifications:
Strong technical and clinical skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable working in a high-volume emergency setting Compassion, patience, professionalism, and adaptability Commitment to learning and professional growth
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred Experience:
Veterinary Technician Experience:
2 years preferred
Emergency Veterinary Experience:
