Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring anesthesia. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and team members. Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and anesthesia monitoring devices with precision. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments according to veterinary instructions while maintaining aseptic technique. Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting in intensive care procedures. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, documenting patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results accurately. Requirements Proven kennel experience and animal husbandry skills with a strong understanding of general animal care practices. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary procedures. Hands-on veterinary technician experience including IV insertion, vascular access, anesthesia monitoring (including general anesthesia), and animal catheterization. Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as phlebotomy and diagnostic radiology including X-ray imaging. Ability to handle dogs confidently and perform animal restraint effectively across various species including equine experience is a plus. Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in high-pressure situations like emergency medicine or critical care.
