Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role requires hands-on experience in veterinary practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal health and safety. This is also an overnight and some weekends' role. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostics, including blood draws and urinalysis. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and ensure cleanliness of the surgical area. Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments. Provide support in animal husbandry practices, ensuring proper care and welfare of all animals in the facility. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques. Monitor animal recovery post-surgery or treatment and report any abnormalities to the veterinarian. Maintain accurate medical records for each patient. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills: Proficiency in dog handling and animal handling techniques. Experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role within veterinary medicine. Knowledge of dog training methods is preferred. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures. Understanding of equine care is a plus. Strong background in animal catheterization is desirable.
