THIS POSITION REQUIRES AT LEAST 2 YEARS OF VETERINARY TECHNICIANEXPERIENCE IN A HOSPITAL SETTING
(not a kennel) . (Certified veterinary technician preferred). Candidates without at least 2 years of veterinary hospital experience will not be considered. No phone calls please. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in performing urgent medical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering medications. Conduct thorough animal examinations, utilizing knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to assess health status accurately. Prepare animals for diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging, laboratory tests, and dental cleanings, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained. Manage laboratory tasks including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic efforts. Handle a variety of animals confidently using animal husbandry skills, including dog handling, pet grooming, and pet care routines. Maintain detailed medical records of all treatments performed and monitor patient progress throughout their stay. Assist with emergency response protocols by providing critical care support under veterinarian supervision. Ensure proper animal restraint and safety during examinations or procedures to minimize stress and injury. Support kennel duties by caring for hospitalized animals, ensuring their comfort through proper animal care practices. Operate veterinary equipment such as X-ray machines and laboratory instruments with precision and adherence to safety standards. Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient flow from intake through discharge while maintaining a positive environment for pets and clients. Requirements Prior experience working as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary setting is highly preferred; experience with urgent care is a plus. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures. Proficiency in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals; experience with equine or exotic animals is advantageous. Familiarity with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis. Ability to handle animals confidently using pet handling skills; experience with dog training or pet grooming is beneficial. Knowledge of aseptic techniques necessary for surgical preparation and infection control. Competence in taking X-rays safely while understanding radiation safety protocols. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and educate pet owners about pet care needs. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail under pressure. A positive attitude combined with a passion for animal welfare and client service.
