Job Description

Overview We are a new, independently owned veterinary clinic in S. Sarasota. We mostly offer affordable spay, neuter, vaccines, & dental care. We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarian and co-workers to deliver high-quality care to animals. Because we are a small establishment, we also expect everyone to be able to play any role that is needed around the clinic, including front desk duties, sharing of cleaning duties, or whatever else needs to get done during the day. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and co-workers during examinations and procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic and the associated outdoor spaces. Assist is surgery - prepare animals for surgery, monitor vitals, and recover patients. Assist with dental procedures - perform dental radiographs, perform cleanings (scaling/polishing), chart teeth, etc. Assist with laboratory procedures, including sample collection, processing, and reviewing (blood, urine, feces, etc. ). Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as needed. Handle animals safely during examinations or treatments, utilizing proper dog and cat handling techniques. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments administered, using a web-based program (ezyvet). Educate pet owners on proper general care practices, routine pet health care topics, and pre/post-op care. Front desk duties - answer phones, make appointments, checkout/in clients, etc. Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary setting is required. Experience in and the ability to administer injectable medications, draw blood, and intubate dogs & cats is required. Familiarity and experience with HQHV spay and neuter practices is a plus. Ability to lift and restrain dogs of all sizes safely, both with and without assistance. Ability to handle cats and dogs in a Fear Free & effective manner. Experience with assisting in and prepping for surgery & dental procedures is a plus. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Problem solving & critical thinking skills is a must. Someone with a strong work ethic and who takes pride in the quality of their work. Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners and co-workers compassionately and professionally. Able to adapt to and use technology efficiently - we are mostly paperless and use a lot of web-based technology. Pay is negotiable and will be based on experience and duties. Current operating schedule of the clinic is M-Th, ~8:30am-4pm. This is temporary, while we build clientele (being a new clinic) and we are looking into extending our hours, but need additional staff to do so. Schedule is negotiable.
